Today, I’ve decided to debut a new type of post I’ll have here frequently, called “Singles”. These are meant to be thoughts or musings that are quick and to the point.
Barry Bonds hit 762 home runs over his 14-time All-Star career. He was a favorite player of mine, with an incredibly sweet swing and batting stance. All of the polarizing stuff aside, I wanted to start with his name because it was an interesting dichotomy to me, using one of the best home run hitters of all-time for the first post that has short opinions and statements.
Another thing about Barry Bonds as you probably know, is that he was unapologetic - never afraid to speak (or not) to the media and always spoke his mind. Check out this clip from Pirates Spring Training back in 1992.
Barry went on to win the Most Valuable Player award in 1992 after this fray, batting .311 with 34 home runs and 103 RBI, walking 127 times whole scoring 109 runs.

Speaking of baseball, Major League Baseball could have an approach to the 2021 season that could really unify sports fans, the nation as a whole, and get people back outside and enjoying the game - but, they’ll mess it all up, because they always do.
The University of Texas fired Longhorns Head Coach Tom Herman today, cementing the fact that universities can throw away gobs of money in a pandemic without any remorse or recourse (Herman is owed a 15M buyout).
Najee Harris. That’s it. That’s the single.
Jim Schwartz has decided to “take a year off” after the end of the season for the Eagles tomorrow against the Washington Football Team. I think we all breathed a sigh of relief here since we know we’ve needed a year off from Jim Schwartz for some time now.
The Saints are frauds. They run around catching Covid-19. They have a very hate-able head coach and a very hate-able quarterback. Do not be fooled by Kamara’s 6 TD’s from two weeks ago, they will lose in the playoffs.
The 76ers looked really good against the Magic the other night, and they have the Hornets for the next two. They should be 6-1 going into the next game I REALLY want to see against the Nets.
It would be really good if we could have March Madness this year. I know we all hate the NCAA and what it stands for, but I think it would be nice for the psyche for Bill Raftery to be screaming “ONIONS!”.
Urban Meyer is trending as a replacement for many coaches out there, and I have to agree. The guy wins wherever he goes.
And, finally, there is literally nothing better then two eggs, over easy, with toast.
You have some singles? Hit me up in the comments. I might talk about some in my next singles post.
Rob Manfred, continuing the destruction of America’s pastime started by Bud Selig.
Bobby Abreu’s getting robbed in HOF voting.
